  • Be our guest at 9:30am, Saturday, September 10, for our potluck branch general meeting at the Community Room of the Gurnee Police Facility.  Four local school superintendents will form a panel to discuss Empowering Girls, Empowering Boys

  • The At the Movies interest group will discuss the film My Old Lady (2014) at 7pm, Monday, September 12.

  • The branch board will meet at 7pm, Thursday, September 22.

  • A member will give her presentation "A Week in London" at 7pm, Tuesday, September 28, at the Travelogue interest group meeting.

AUGUST 2016


In preparation for the coming AAUW year,
  • the branch board met last week (and enjoyed a delicious pot luck supper)
  • the program planning committee has made plans for general meeting speakers
  • interest group leaders are putting finishing touches on 2016-17 plans

  • The Lake County Women's Coalition (of which WABAAUW is a founding member organization) has scheduled an event for 7pm, Thursday, August 25, at Warren-Newport Public Library.  Please contact the library to reserve your place.
  • The AAUW-IL Gender Equity Fund partners with the Chicago Inc. Branch of AAUW to present Equal Means Equal, an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today.  The screening will be at The Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee, Chicago, 6:00-9:00pm, Friday, August 26.  You can register at http://emechicago.eventbrite.com .

The Waukegan Area Branch held a successful accessory sale this summer. 
Proceeds will benefit the branch's local scholarship fund.

MAY 2016


  • The At the Movies interest group will discuss the Israeli film Fill the Void at 7pm, Monday, May 2.


  • David Rhodes' novel Driftless will be discussed by the Reflections on Reading interest group at 7pm, Thursday, May 5.

  • THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!  Join us at the branch general meeting,7pm, Tuesday, May 10, at the Gurnee Police Facility Community Room.  Four local women who have begun their own businesses - Shelley Lazarus, Nancy Stolbom, Elisabeth Hubbard, and Rita Agueta - will be the panel, moderated by Susan Rose, another entrepreneur.  As always, the general meeting is open to the public.

  • The Travelogue interest group's end-of-year potluck will be held at 6pm, Tuesday, May 24.  The evening's program will feature a member's trip to Venice.

  • The branch board will meet at 7pm, Thursday, May 26.

  • Join us at the first WAB general meeting of 2016!  "Superheroes and Patriots Comic Book Propaganda Unveiled," a Road Scholar Program funded with a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, is co-sponsored by the Warren Newport Public Library.  The program will be presented by Brian Russell at the library (rooms A & B), at 9:30am, Saturday, February 13 with light refreshments before the presentation.

  • The Travelogue interest group will discuss a Caribbean cruise at its 7pm, Tuesday, February 23, meeting.

  • The branch board will meet on Thursday, February 25, at 7pm.
