SEPTEMBER 2009

One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus will be discussed at the 7pm, Thursday, September 3, Reflections on Reading interest group at the home of the hostess. Please bring ideas for other selections for this year.

We are delighted to have Dr. Li-hua Yu, College of Lake County sociology instructor,
speaking on China’s Most Recent Economic Reforms. The meeting will be held Saturday,
September 12, at 9:30am at the Gurnee Police Facility, 1000 N. O’Plaine Road
(corner of O’Plaine & Washington). There will be a potluck brunch prior to the program.
We are hopeful that our spring 2009 scholarship recipient will attend.

The At the Movies interest group will be discussing Lars and the Real Girl (2007) on Monday, September 14, at 7pm at the home of the hostess.

Start the season Thursday, September 17, 1pm, by hearing a member of the Waukegan Area Branch of AAUW give a lively book review at the home of the hostess.

The Travel Group will open the season with a presentation by a branch member featuring the Dordogne region in France, an often-neglected destination of prehistoric settlements and unusual chateaux. All are welcome to join us on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:00pm, at the home of the hostess.

Join the Exploring Culture interest group at 9:15am, Thursday, September 24, for a 10am tour of the Feet First Exhibition Museum, Dr. Scholl’s School of Podiatry, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, 3333 Green Bay Road, North Chicago.

The branch board will meet at 7pm, Thursday, September 24, at the home of the hostess.
