NOVEMBER 2019


  • The Reflections on Reading interest group will discuss The Newcomers: Finding Refuge, Friendship, and Hope in an American Classroom by Helen Thorpe at the 1pm, Thursday, November 7 meeting.

  • At 1pm, Monday, November 11, the At the Movies interest group will discuss the film       The Old Man and the Gun.

  • Warren-Newport Public Library will host A Tea at Hull House with Jane Addams 10:30am - 12:30pm, Wednesday, November 13.  Betsey Means will portray Addams.  Registration is required...hhttp/:www.wnpl.info or 847-244-5150.

  • The WAB general meeting will be at 10:30am, Saturday, November 16, at the Gurnee Police Facility.  Attorney Laura A Josephson-Bernat's program will be "Implicit Bias: What Is It and How to Disrupt It."  As usual, the general meeting is open to the public.

OCTOBER 2019


  • The Reflections on Reading interest group will discuss Kristen Hannah's novel Winter Garden at its 1pm, Thursday, October 3, meeting.

  • Lake County Historian Diana Dretske will tell us about Women Who Made History in Lake County at the 7pm, Tuesday, October 8, WAB general meeting at the Gurnee Police Facility community room.  As always, this general meeting is open to the public.  Hope to see you!

  • The At the Movies interest group will meet at 7pm on Monday, October 14, to discuss the film Darkest Hour.

  • Field Trip!  The Exploring Culture interest group will go to the Chicago History Museum on Wednesday, October 16, for The First Influencers (How American Fashion Designers Became Mainstream in the '30s and '40s). 

  • The WAB board will meet at 7pm on Thursday, October 17.

  • The Reflections on Reading interest group will me at 1pm, Thursday, September 5, to discuss Where the Crawdads Sing, a novel by Delia Owens.

  • Two films - The Wife and Collette - will be compared at the 7pm, Monday, September 9At the Movies interest group meeting.

  • Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart will speak about leadership at the Saturday, September 14, WAB general meeting at the Living Faith United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (414 McAree Road, Waukegan).  A continental breakfast will be available at 10am followed by Hart's presentation at 10:30.  As always, this general meeting is open to the public.

  • At its 1pm, Thursday, June 6, meeting, the Reflections on Reading interest group will share recommendations for summer reading and select a book to discuss in September.
