February 2013 Update

was represented by 11 members and two guests

 at the February 2

District 5 Networking Luncheon

in Deefield.

 

Please note the following changes of date from the previous post:

• 7pm, Thursday, February 21...branch board meeting
• 7pm, Thursday, February 28...Reflections on Reading (Sandcastle Girls) 

FEBRUARY 2013

• The AAUW Illinois District 5 Annual Networking Luncheon will take place at the Deerfield Hyatt on Saturday, February 2...registration at 11:30am, lunch at noon.  The guest speaker will be former US Congressional Representative Melissa Bean.

• The At the Movies interest group will discuss Raise the Red Lantern (Chinese film) at its 7:00pm, Monday, February 4, meeting.

• The Sandcastle Girls, by Chris Bohjalian, will be discussed by the Reflections on Reading interest group at the 7:00pm, Thursday, February 7, meeting.

• Join the Waukegan Area Branch of AAUW for its general meeting, 7:00pm, Tuesday, February 12, at the Gurnee Police Facility (Washington Street & O'Plaine Road).  Guest Pamela Welcome will portray Harriet Tubman and tell her remarkable story as part of Black History Month.

• WABAAUW and the Lake County League of Women Voters will co-sponsor a candidates forum at Park Place in Waukegan at 1:30pm, Sunday, February 17.  Three candidates for mayor and five candidates for city clerk are expected to be present.

• The Travelogue interest group will meet at 7:00pm, Tuesday, February 26.  The presentation will be about New Zealand.

• The branch board will meetat 7:00pm, Thursday, February 28.
