Welcome back to another exciting year of AAUW!
Here's what's going on with the Waukegan Area Branch this month:
- September 6 (Thursday), 7:00pm...The Reflections on Reading interest group will discuss The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Also, choices will be made for this year's reading list.
- September 10 (Monday), 7:00pm...Two films--Poetry (South Korean) and Bride Flight (Dutch) will be discussed by the At the Movies interest group.
- September 15 (Saturday), 9:30am...The speaker for the branch general meeting will be Ty Rohrer of the Waukegan Historical Society. Rohrer will talk about Waukegan native son Ray Bradbury, recently deceased. Bradbury was the reknown author of such wonderful books as Dandelion Wine, Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and more. The meeting and potluck brunch will be held at the Gurnee Police Facility (Washington & O'Plaine) and is open to the public.
- September 19 (Wednesday), 10:30am...The Exploring Culture interest group will visit the Button Room Museum in Gurnee. There is a small fee.
- September 20 (Thursday), 1:00pm...The Book Review interest group will meet.
- September 20 (Thursday), 3:30pm...Branch members will meet at the Lake County Courthouse for voter registration training.
- September 25 (Tuesday), 7:00pm...Costa Rica, Horses & Beaches will be the program for the Travel interest group this month.
- September 27 (Thursday), 7:00pm...the branch board will meet.
