NOVEMBER 2012


  • The Reflections on Reading interest group will discuss Qanta Ahmed's memoir In the Land of Invisible Women: A Female Doctor's Journey in the Saudi Kingdom at 7pm, Thursday, November 1, at the home of the hostess.

  • Next up for the At the Movies interest group: A Separation (2011), the first Iranian film to win the Best Foreign Film Oscar, which will be discusses at 7pm, Monday, November 5, at the home of the hostess.

  • The branch general meeting will be held at 7pm, Tuesday, November 13, at the Gurnee Police Facility and is, as ever, open to the public.  Speaker Celia Loeb will recall her childhood in Europe during WWII, hiding under dangerous and desparate conditions because of her Jewish faith.  Donations to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie will be collected and forwarded.
 
  • The Book Review interest group will meet at 1pm, Thursday, November 15, at the home of the hostess.
